About Me

Hello, I’m Mirko Dokic and I’m the author of USEFULS.NET. I’m a computer fanatic born on the 15th February, 1986.

In the younger years

I started using a computer when I was 8 years. If I remember right, my first computer was a .386 with 4mb RAM. My father got it from his work because it was not needed there anymore.

The first thing that I have done on this computer was to play Jazz Jackrabbit. But when I turned 9 I realized what I really wanted - I started programming little .bat scripts on MS-DOS and modifying games so that they would show my textures inside.

When Windows 95 came out I started with the WinSkript scripting language, a predecessor of Click.Exe. Here I got in contact with if-conditions and loops for the first time in my life. Producing executables worked easily: It just added the script in plain text at the end of the runtime executable.

It’s getting rough (machine language)

Before I turned 12 I started with x86 assembly (masm32). In the next 4 years I programmed stuff such as a x86 disassembler, Portable Executable (PE) packers, Lempel Ziv and Huffman based compression algorithms.

I also liked reverse engineering, for example getting program’s serial numbers and cracking CD protections. For educational purposes only, of course.

My first real love

At the age of 16 my dad once brought me two CD’s titled “Visual C++” and “Visual Basic”. I came to the conclusion that nobody really liked Visual Basic. So I got into C++ and felt in love with it.

It is still my favorite programming language.

What I do now

These days I’m reorganizing my life, I am trying to get a place at some good school. In my spare time I am programming ASM/C/C++, I also do web programming and designing in PHP/HTML/JAVA/XML/CSS.
